The Automated Export System (AES) is the export component of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).  The Automated Export System (AES) revolutionized the paper-bound, expensive, and error-prone export process by utilizing proven technology in a new way. AES, a collaborative effort between various federal agencies and the export trade community, serves as a centralized platform for electronically filing export shipment data to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). This eliminates the need for paper filings of Electronic Export Information (EEI) and enables immediate electronic collection and editing of export information, along with real-time error detection and correction. AES operates nationwide across all ports and transportation methods, aiming to ensure compliance, enhance trade statistics, reduce duplicate reporting, and improve customer service in the export industry.
