Feeder Ports

Feeder Ports are intermediate ports that serve as vital hubs in the global shipping network. These ports are smaller in size compared to base ports, making them unsuitable for accommodating large mother vessels. However, they play a crucial role in facilitating efficient cargo distribution by providing berthing facilities for smaller vessels, known as feeders. These feeders transport cargo between the larger base ports and the feeder ports, acting as a bridge to reach destinations that are not directly accessible by the main vessels. Feeder ports serve as regional distribution centers, connecting smaller markets and facilitating trade in areas where deep-water ports may be limited. They enhance supply chain connectivity, reduce transit times, and optimize the logistics flow by ensuring seamless cargo transfer between larger vessels and local markets.
