Transloading

Transloading is the process of transferring a shipment from one mode of transportation to another during the course of its journey. This can occur for various reasons. One common scenario is when a shipment involves multiple modes of transport, such as moving from a ship to a truck or from a train to a plane. Transloading can also be necessary when the shipment requires a change in container size or type, or when it needs to be consolidated with other cargo to optimize transportation efficiency. Additionally, transloading may be required if the shipment is destined for a location that is not directly accessible by a specific mode of transport. Transloading facilitates the seamless movement of goods across different transportation networks and enables efficient and cost-effective logistics operations.
