Singapore will be joining 22 other countries in establishing green shipping routes to fight climate change.

Singapore Minister of Transport Iswaran announced the signing of Clydebank Declaration earlier this week as part of the country’s decarbonization efforts in achieving green shipping.

The Clydebank Declaration is led by the UK at COP26 in Glasgow last year.  It is an act of global move to promote green shipping to fight climate change.  Signatory states declared their ambition and intent to support the establishment of green shipping corridors, zero-emission shipping routes between 2 ports.

Apart from the declaration, Singapore has also issued decarbonization blueprint to achieve its green shipping ambition – zero emissions shipping by 2050.  It includes adoption of clean energy at port terminals and low-carbon energy solutions in domestic harbor crafts.
