To strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a regional logistics hub, the Government announced a site near Kwai Chung Terminal will be disposed by public tender for logistics services. The tender invitation will close on July 15.
Kwai Chung Town Lot No.531 is located at the junction of Mei Ching Road and Container Port Road South with total size over 55,000 square metres and a maximum gross floor area of around 138,000 square metres. The site area will be used for developing modern logistics facilities including inventory management, consolidation and handling of container cargoes, loading, unloading and storage of containers etc. It will also act as a public vehicle park. The market is expecting a premium of $4.7 to 5.3 billion for this lot.
The Government has been actively identifying suitable sites for supporting modern logistics development in Hong Kong. According to the latest 2021 Policy Address Supplement, the Government has concluded the feasibility studies for two port backup sites and Lot No. 531 is one of them.
