Hongkong Post announced a few days ago (August 29) that all surface mail services to Australia and certain destinations will be suspended from September 1 until further notice. According to the postal administration of Australia, Australia Post will stop accepting surface mail due to capacity issues at the Port of Sydney. In addition, surface mail services transiting via Australia to Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Nauru, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands will also be suspended from the same day.

Moreover, Hongkong Post announced that all mail delivery services to the United Kingdom will be subject to delay because of the local strike in the UK.

Hongkong Post announced on August 30 that with the gradual scaling up of air capacity provided by airlines, airmail services (including air letter and packet services) to Brazil, Cyprus, Israel, Latvia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico and Peru will resume from August 31.

Hongkong Post announced on August 24 that the principal postage rates will be adjusted with effect from September 26 due to escalating operating costs, including conveyance costs and terminal dues payments. Overall, the postage increases for 80% of local mail will be within $0.30, while those for 80% and 90% respectively of airmail and surface mail will be within $0.50. According to a spokesperson for Hongkong Post, the expected impacts on both the general public and the commercial sectors are considered to be mild.
