The Belgium port, Antwerp and Zeebrugge, have agreed to merge on 28th April.  It is expecting to see them as Europe’s largest export port and largest breakbulk ports.  It is also the largest port for the throughput of vehicles in Europe.

Since the two ports are said to be largely complementary, the newly unified Belgium port can integrate the advantages of both of them.  In order to improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of the logistics industry together.  The merging of the Belgium port is expected to consolidate its position as the major gateway port in Europe as well.

Besides, this newly unified Belgium port also work with industrial and maritime customers to cut down its carbon footprint, as well as to assess methods for carbon capture, utilization and storage to become a low-carbon Belgium port.

Furthermore, the joining of the Belgium port will provide over 150,000 job opportunities and create an added value of 21 billion euros.  The merging of the Belgium ports in general can consolidate the port’s position in the global supply chain and achieve sustainable growth.  Meanwhile, playing an important role in green and digital transformation.
