According to information provided by Pitney Bowes Inc., a supplier of logistics technology and financial services, the global parcel volume would probably reach 256 billion by 2027. From 2022 to 2027, that would be a cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.5%. In 2023, according to Pitney Bowes’s study, parcel volume growth rates will be in the low single digits, before rising to mid-to-high single digits in 2024.

According to Brett Cody, Director of Communications for Global Ecommerce of Pitney Bowes, e-commerce is the top driver of parcel volume growth. Cody added that there is still a significant correlation between e-commerce sales and parcel volume, partly brought on by a spike in non-delivery e-commerce at the beginning of the pandemic. Pitney Bowes’ Parcel Shipping Index includes statistics for 2021 from 13 significant international markets. Total parcel volume in the markets Pitney Bowes surveyed increased by 21% to 159 billion in 2021 from 131 billion in 2020. Last year, carriers generated $491.5 billion in total revenue. The increase from $420 billion in 2020 is 17%.

According to Pitney Bowes, in 2021, China, the United States, and Japan will account for 87% of worldwide package volume and 77% of global parcel income. Researchers discovered that in 2021, China produced more packets than the rest of those marketplaces put together. According to the data, China produced 108 billion packages in 2021, making it the first nation to produce more than 100 billion packets in a single year.
