An Air Waybill (AWB) is a legally binding transport document issued by a carrier or agent that contains details of the goods being shipped. It contains detailed information about the contents of the shipment, the consignor and consignee, terms and conditions, and other information. The AWB is a standard form distributed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Think of the document as a receipt for the sender or shipper. An air waybill is also known as a consignment note. The AWB is non-negotiable and serves as proof of the contract of carriage from airport to airport. There are three parties involved in an air waybill - the shipper, the airline and the consignee.
