Weather side

The weather side is the side of a ship or island that is facing into the wind, as opposed to the lee side, which is sheltered from the wind. In maritime terms: Exposure: The weather side is more exposed to wind and weather conditions, which can affect both the ship's handling and the comfort of those on board. Significance in Sailing: Sailors need to be aware of the weather side for navigation and safety, as handling sails and maneuvering can be significantly affected by strong winds coming onto this side.
