Container Service Charge

The charge assessed by the terminal for the positioning of containers within the terminal/yard. Container Service Charges are additonal costs, on top of the sea freight, charged by the shipping terminals for the storage and positioning of containers before they are loaded onboard a vessel. The charges usually consist of goods handling, unloading the container, stacking and crane service. Another name for CSC is Terminal Handling Charges (THC).
