The Integrated Tariff of the European Union (TARIC)

The Integrated Tariff of the European Union (TARIC) is a comprehensive database and classification system used for the regulation of goods imported into or exported from the European Union (EU). It assigns a unique TARIC code to each product, which is a minimum of 10 digits in length. The first six digits of the TARIC code are based on the international Harmonised System (HS), a standardized classification system for goods worldwide. These six digits provide a common classification framework across countries. The additional digits in the TARIC code are specific to the EU and provide more detailed information, such as additional customs duties, restrictions, or regulations applicable to the particular product within the EU market. The TARIC code helps facilitate trade, determine customs duties, and enforce regulations within the EU.
