Bonded Goods

Bonded goods, also known as bonded cargo, are imported shipments that have outstanding customs charges, including duties, taxes and potential penalties. These goods are held in a bonded warehouse under the control of customs authorities. In the United States and other similar cases, importers are required to obtain a customs bond prior to importation if the bonded warehouse is managed by a third party. Release of the bonded goods is conditional upon full payment of the outstanding duty. Failure to make payment within a specified time may result in the destruction or disposal of the bonded merchandise by US Customs or other appropriate authorities. Bonded goods ensure compliance with import regulations and facilitate the collection of duties and taxes before the goods are released for further use or distribution.
