Drop Fee

Drop fee (also known as a “bobtail fee”) is a charge that a trucking company may impose for dropping off a full container load (FCL) at a warehouse and picking it up after it has been unloaded. This fee is an alternative to a live unload, where the driver waits while the container is unloaded. Drop fees are common in high-volume FCL shipments and are generally more cost-effective than live unloads because they save time and labor costs associated with the driver waiting during the unloading process.
