Net Weight

Net weight refers to the overall weight of goods, excluding the weight of the transportation container and any accompanying accessories like dunnage. It represents the actual weight of the cargo itself, disregarding the weight of the container used for transportation. In other words, it is calculated by deducting the container’s tare weight from the total weight of the cargo and container combined. The net weight specifically excludes the weight of packaging materials and cargo protection equipment, such as shelves and pallets, focusing solely on the weight of the goods being transported. By providing the net weight, accurate measurements of the cargo can be obtained for various purposes, including logistics planning, inventory management, and compliance with weight restrictions.
