Chassis Fee

Chassis Fee

A chassis fee is charged when a shipment requires the use of a chassis for transportation by truck, which is common after cargo arrives at an ocean port and needs to be transported further, such as to a warehouse. The fee is imposed to cover the cost of using the chassis. For Full Container Load (FCL) shipments, this fee is usually a flat rate that varies depending on the trucking service provider. In contrast, for Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments, the chassis fee is typically calculated based on the volume of the cargo. This fee reflects the logistics and operational costs associated with providing and maintaining the necessary equipment for safe and efficient road transport of containers.
