Delivery Order

A delivery order is a document that is typically issued by the owner of the freight, consignee, shipper, or carrier to instruct the transportation provider to deliver goods to a specific recipient or location. Unlike a bill of lading, which serves as a contract of carriage and a receipt of goods, a delivery order does not possess negotiable characteristics. It primarily serves as an instruction or authorization for the carrier to carry out the delivery. While it confirms the intent to deliver the goods, it does not serve as evidence of ownership or act as a receipt of the goods themselves. Its purpose is to facilitate the logistical process of delivering the goods to the designated party.
