Storage Charges

“Storage Charges” are fees that may be applied to a shipment, even if the shipper does not intend to store the goods. These charges are typically incurred when there is a delay or extended period between the arrival of the shipment at the destination and its immediate pickup or delivery. The storage charges compensate the facility or terminal for occupying valuable storage space, handling the goods, and managing inventory during the storage period. Factors such as limited storage capacity, congested terminals, or delays in customs clearance can contribute to the accumulation of storage charges. It is important for shippers to be aware of any potential storage fees and plan their logistics accordingly to minimize costs and avoid unexpected expenses.
