Chassis Pool

A chassis pool is a centralized location where chassis are stored and made available for rental. There are two main types of the pools:
  • Neutral Chassis Pool: This type of pool are owned by third-party companies. These chassis are available for rental by various stakeholders in the shipping and logistics industry, including ocean carriers and trucking companies. It aims to provide flexibility and accessibility to quality chassis for all users, independent of their affiliation with specific carriers.
  • Co-op Chassis Pool: In this type of pool, the frame of cars are owned by ocean carriers who pool their resources together. This collaborative approach helps reduce costs associated with chassis management. By sharing chassis among carriers, it can offer economies of scale, leading to reduced overhead for each member and potentially lower costs for users.
