Destination Interchange Terminal (DIT)

A destination interchange terminal is a container yard or depot where containers are exchanged between the delivering motor carrier and the ocean carrier or its agent. It serves as a crucial facility for the seamless transfer of containers from the motor carrier responsible for the final delivery to the ocean carrier for onward transportation. At the destination interchange terminal, containers are received, verified, and then handed over to the ocean carrier. This terminal serves as a centralised location for the efficient coordination and management of logistics, ensuring the smooth transition between different transportation modes and facilitating the timely and secure delivery of goods to their intended destination.
