Wind-over-tide

Wind-over-tide refers to the condition in maritime environments where the direction of the wind is opposite to the direction of the tide. This scenario can create particularly hazardous sea conditions. When wind blows against the tide, it can lead to steep, short waves that are more challenging to navigate. This situation can be especially problematic for smaller vessels or inexperienced sailors, as it may drastically affect the boat’s handling and stability.
