Gate-In

Gate-In refers to the process in which a container enters a terminal or port facility. Before a container is permitted to enter the designated area, the shipper is required to have made a prior booking with the shipping line. This booking ensures that the terminal is prepared to receive and handle the container efficiently. Gate-In procedures involve verifying the booking details, checking the container’s documentation, and confirming its compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Once the container has successfully gone through the Gate-In process, it is allowed to enter the terminal, where it will undergo further handling, such as storage, inspection, or loading onto a vessel. Gate-In procedures contribute to the organized and controlled flow of containers within the terminal, ensuring smooth operations and enhancing overall logistics efficiency.
