Transship

Transship refers to the process of shipping freight from its origin to an intermediate destination and then forwarding it to a final destination. It involves transferring the cargo between different modes of transportation or changing the carrier during the journey. Transshipment commonly occurs when there is no direct route available or when a consolidation point is required to optimize shipping efficiency. During transshipment, the cargo is typically unloaded, sorted, and reloaded onto another mode of transport, such as from a ship to a truck or from a plane to a train. This process ensures the smooth flow of goods across various transportation networks, allowing for efficient and cost-effective delivery to the final destination.
