Consolidation

Consolidation, or LCL consolidation (Less than Container Load consolidation), is the act of combining LCL shipments into a truck or container. Consolidation is a cost-effective and efficient shipping method that allows multiple shippers to combine their cargo into a single container. It involves the movement of less than container load cargo from an Inland Container Deport to a nominated ‘hub’ terminal under customs seal, usually in a domestic container of some sort. LCL consolidation is in contrast to Full Container Load (FCL) shipping, which has a container entirely filled with the contents of a single company.
